A cure for the pandemic blues: Maya and her grandparents wrote a book together!

I am brimming with excitement to announce that my daughter and her grandparents just published their first book together – The Green Gang. The story tells the tale of a young girl who is on a quest to save the ocean from environmental destruction. She enlists the help of her grandparents, her best friends – the Green Gang – and her dog Ruffles to figure out a solution. Their quest leads them to other worlds, where they meet strange and magical creatures, learn about the causes and consequences of pollution, and use their smarts and teamwork to figure out a way to save the ocean. The book is now available in English and Spanish (La Pandilla Verde) for purchase on Amazon. Here are links to the English ebook and paperback and Spanish ebook and paperback.

The Green Gang – and how it was created all online while my parents and Maya were apart due to the coronavirus pandemic – is a true work of love and connection that comes at a time when so many grandparents and grandkids are experiencing separation. It is our family’s hope that it brings readers and their families a bit of joy and light during these difficult times, and helps them think about creative ways they can reach out to those in their lives who matter most.

All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to support El Jardín elementary school – a non-profit community school that serves 60+ children in the small fishing village of Chacala, Nayarit, Mexico. Funding support for the school – which is dependent on foreign tourism – has decreased significantly due to the pandemic. Your purchase of this book will help pay for educational materials, meals for students, operational expenses, teacher’s salaries, and more. Thank you for your support!
